"Freedom From Religion!"

The title of this message is "Freedom From Religion!" Our text comes from Colossians 2:16-23. As Paul deals with the false teaching of a legalistic works based religious system that seeks to replace and substitute Jesus with rules, rituals, and performance in order to achieve God's acceptance, maturity, and righteousness, he explains that apart from Jesus and the finished work of the Cross, Resurrection, and Regeneration of the Spirit it's impossible to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Apostle teaches that Jesus is Enough. It's not Jesus and...It's just Jesus. He is sufficient. We need not turn to any other. Everything we need to be saved and grow in our relationship with Jesus is in Jesus. This is where true freedom is found. Walking in the freedom of Jesus means that we must reject religious performance and pretend religion in order either to be saved or to walk in sanctification with our Savior. Philippians 1:6 says, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the ay of Jesus Christ..." Jesus started this new life of freedom and Jesus will finish it. Amen. Trust in Jesus. Walk in the freedom of Jesus. Don't allow the false teaching of man-made religion as a substitute for Jesus to place you under bondage. Be free. In Jesus name. Blessings.
